Built to be used, not just visited
Accessibility at Morningside is a property feature and a website feature, and we take both seriously. Here is exactly what is in place and what is not.
The buildings
Getting in, and getting around
- No steps at any building entrance — ramps throughout.
- Elevators serving the second and third floors of every building.
- Handrails along common corridors.
- Grab bars and handrails fitted in apartment bathrooms.
- A step-in shower stall in every two-bathroom plan.
- Ground-floor apartments available, subject to availability.
- Intercom entry, with entrance doors locked at all times.
- A private garage with every apartment, so you are never walking far from the car in winter.
If you have a specific need
Doorway widths, turning space, shower thresholds and reachable switch heights vary between apartments. Rather than publish a number that turns out to be wrong for the home you are shown, please call (303) 421-7702 and describe what you need. The leasing office will measure the specific apartment before you make a journey.
Requests for reasonable accommodations and modifications under the Fair Housing Act are welcome and are handled by the leasing office.
This website
How this site is built
This site aims to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. In practice that meant a few decisions most property websites do not make:
- Body text starts at 18 pixels, not the usual 14 or 16.
- Every combination of text and background is tested to at least 4.5:1 contrast. There is no thin light-grey text anywhere.
- Buttons and links are at least 48 pixels tall, so they can be hit reliably on a phone.
- The page can be zoomed to 500% without content being lost or clipped.
- Floor plans are published as readable text, not only as images, so a screen reader can read the specifications aloud.
- Every photograph has a written description of what it actually shows.
- The whole site works by keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
- Animation is reduced automatically if your device asks for that.
